Job summary This role involves senior clinical decision-making responsibilities, including delivering care across adult and Paediatric Emergency Departments and managing trauma cases. Additionally, the successful candidate will regularly act as the Emergency Physician in Charge (EPIC) in conjunction with the consultant of the day, overseeing the flow and operational management of the department.The applicant will be well led with excellent Clinical Supervision by senior staff during all shifts. You will be allocated a Consultant Mentor and Educational Supervisor to support and guide your professional development during your time with us. All the medical patients who present at Cheltenham and require admission, will be transferred to Gloucester. The Emergency department in Gloucester, has SOPs for direct referral to other specialties like Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU), Trauma Assessment Unit (TAU), Paediatric Assessment Unit for children under three months old (PAU), Head and Neck Short Stay Unit (HANSSU) as well as having a functioning Urgent Treatment Centre where the minor injuries and GP presentations are streamed. Main duties of the job As a Trust Specialty Registrar, your role will be in the initial assessment and treatment of the ill and injured patient as well as providing clinical advice to more junior ED doctors and EPs, where appropriate. You will have the opportunity to be part of the Trauma Team within the ED and to be the nominated Resus or Pediatrics doctor of the day. During a night shift, you will be in charge of the department.
