PRODUCTION MANAGER

Our client is a leading, award-winning designer and manufacturer of innovative packaging solutions. They manufacture both Corrugated and Timber Packaging.
They are currently looking for a Production Manager to join their team. You will be responsible for overseeing the effective operation of all production processes ensuring the efficient manufacture and delivery of products while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and performance. In this role you will ensure the compliance with industry standards, fostering supplier relationships, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to drive the operational success and meet the company targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Plant Manager
Full accountability for all aspects of production operations, including safety, manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvement
Oversee daily production activities, ensuring targets are met across departments and production lines
Manage workflow to meet production specifications and deadlines, resolving any operational issues that arise
Drive the site's strategic development and ensure alignment with business objectives and service goals
Ensure optimal resource planning, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to maintain cost-effective and efficient operations
Monitor production processes and equipment, making necessary adjustments to meet performance specifications
Manage supplier relationships to ensure high-quality materials are sourced at competitive costs, contributing to overall production efficiency
Lead, mentor, and develop team leaders and supervisors, fostering an environment of empowerment, motivation, and continuous improvement
Conduct performance evaluations, manage training, and identify development needs to maximise employee potential
Manage employee relations, including resolving disputes, conducting disciplinary actions, and ensuring a positive working environment
Ensure adequate staffing and coverage to meet production demands, addressing absence, performance, and talent management needs effectively
Lead and if necessary, enforce compliance with all SHEQ standards across the site
Promote a culture of safety leadership by conducting safety audits and proactively addressing risks and demonstrating SHEQ Leadership behaviours
Ensure all team members are trained and adhere to the company's safety policies, with a focus on creating a safe working environment for all employees
Ensure the safety of yourself and others in compliance with trade regulations, and conduct regular checks on the safety of equipment and working conditions
Oversee quality assurance processes, ensuring that all products meet the required standards, including ISO9000 and FSC certifications
Work closely with the Quality department to continuously improve product quality and production processes
Maintain accurate and complete documentation for quality checks and compliance with relevant industry standards
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing tools and techniques, reducing waste and downtime, increasing productivity, and optimizing operational efficiency
Lead the implementation of strategic improvement projects across the site, fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence
Champion LEAN and 5S activities, ensuring production teams are trained and engaged in continuous improvement efforts
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality materials
Develop positive relationships with customers, ensuring production meets their specifications and delivery schedules
Collaborate with internal business functions, such as Sales and Design, to enhance service offerings and improve cross-departmental communication
Liaise with other departments (e.g., Sales, Engineering, Logistics) to ensure seamless coordination of production activities and material supply
Act as the primary point of contact for site-related issues, resolving problems quickly and efficiently
Provide regular reports to senior management on production performance, strategic initiatives, and operational improvements
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, quality control, production efficiency, and cost management
Ensure that all production staff maintain clear and accurate production documentation
Take ownership of month-end stock checks and ensure timely, accurate reporting of resultsRequirements:
Proven experience in a Production Management or similar role within a manufacturing environment
Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams in a fast-paced production environment
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and HSSQE compliance
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities under pressure
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
Commitment to health & safety, quality, and industry compliance standards
ILM Level 5 or equivalent qualification in management
Familiarity with ISO standards, FSC certification, and quality management systems
Experience with production scheduling and manufacturing systems, including ERP software
