Job overview
The Trust is looking to recruit a part-time Consultant in Adult Neurology.
Helena ward is a designated 17-bedded Neurology Unit, providing inpatient acute care and rehabilitation. There are separate facilities for day case lumbar punctures and intravenous infusions, outpatient suites, neurophysiology, and administrative offices.
The Neurology ward cares for patients with acute neurological disease and sub-acute rehabilitation of patients transferred from the regional Neurosciences Centre. MRI, CT scanning, EEG, NCS, and carotid dopplers are all available on site.
The post includes commitment to elective outpatient activity based at the RUH and in Wiltshire community hospitals.
You will be part of a dedicated team of consultants, as well as three non-Consultant grade medical staff; one IMT, one StR, and one F1. In addition, the department has a Medical Nurse Practitioner as well as specialist nurses supporting in Parkinson’s Disease, MS, MND, and Epilepsy.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be expected to participate in audit, clinical governance, and directorate meetings as well as undertake administrative duties as required by the Lead Clinician in Neurology.
The RUH hosts teaching of medical students from Bristol University, the Bath Academy, and all Neurology Consultants are encouraged to contribute to teaching of these medical students in formal sessions as well as in clinical settings.
