1. The Department
The Retail Team is responsible for the marketing and selling of Club merchandise, including kit, and plays a key role in driving sales revenue for the organisation. We are also tasked with maintaining high retail standards across both customer-facing and back-of-house operations.
The retail environment is fast-paced and constantly evolving, and we embrace the challenge of staying ahead in a competitive market. We are not just about sales; we are about building connections, celebrating the Aston Villa brand, and providing our customers with a world-class experience every time they walk through the door.
We are now looking to expand our team with the opening of our new retail store in Birmingham city centre. The successful candidate will play a vital part in delivering a first-class shopping experience for customers while helping to meet business objectives.
2. The Role
You will be responsible for the overall management of our exciting new retail store, ensuring the store runs smoothly, efficiently, and delivers outstanding customer service every day. From managing store merchandising, operations, and inventory to leading a motivated and high-performing team, you will ensure every aspect of the retail operation meets world-class standards. You will partner with line managers to implement key strategies, forecast payroll, and ensure our revenue and operational goals are met. Ultimately, your leadership will drive a positive, collaborative team culture focused on growth and excellence.
The role requires flexibility with working hours, including evenings and weekends. The ability to work during these times is essential to supporting the club’s operations.

3. The Person
To be successful in this role, you must have proven retail management experience with a track record of driving sales growth in a customer-focused environment. You will need to have strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage a team. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You will need to have exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to create an ultimate shopping experience.
You must have solid understanding of retail mathematics and P&L mechanics, along with experience in forecasting, budget management, and analysing sales trends.
You must also have strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and work under pressure. You must have proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, along with retail point of sales systems.
You must also be available to work flexibly as the Club requires, this will include matchdays, evenings and weekends.
