We now have opportunities for an Education Support Worker to join our Sense College in Bedford.
This is a 1 year fixed term role, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am-4.30pm.
This is an exciting role working at the Sense Specialist College, supporting and preparing young people for the journey into adulthood. The successful candidate should have experience of working in an education setting.
As an Education Support Worker, you will work with individuals who have dual or single sensory impairment, learning disability and/or autism. The role involves providing a person-centered approach to meet communication, information and mobility needs.
You will support learners to be as involved as possible in every part of their day-to-day lives so that they can be full and active members of society.

Your duties can include:
* To support individuals/groups within the centre and community.
* Team members who support learners with core funded educational needs will also carry out the following education-related responsibilities under the guidance of senior education colleagues.
* Maintaining a Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
* Representing the college at external professional development events for Support Workers.
* Contributing to Individual Learning Plans/targets and monitoring progress of these.
* Playing a key role in ongoing assessment of learners.
* To provide a customised, responsive and high-quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
* To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.
Your required skills and experiences:
* Previous experience of working with people who have a sensory impairment, autism or learning disability would be an advantage, as would knowledge of BSL, Makaton or other methods of communication; however, training will be provided.
* It is essential that you are able to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating your own initiative. You will have had experience of person-centred planning, keeping records up to date and providing personal care.
* Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths is an essential requirement for this role.
