Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Hospital Sterilisation and Disinfection (HSDU) Technician working at the County site. Cover will also be provided at the Royal Stoke site as required.
This is a fully flexible job role and shift patterns may be changed at short notice.
Shift Patterns:
Predominantly working core shifts of :
Days: 06:00 - 14:00, Twilight: -, Nights: 22:00 - 06:00
Saturday working is incorporated within working hours, and will be between - 16:00 or 12:00 - 20:00. -
Sunday working is incorporated within night working hours, and will be between Day shift - hours TBA or 22:00 - 06:00 as part of one of the nights shift rota.
The successful applicant will be required to work permanent weekends with a back fill day off in the week.
On call and Bank holiday working on rota are essential.
Pay scale - Band 2 plus enhancement pay after 20:00 to 06:00 as per Agenda for Change terms and conditions. Weekends are also at an enhanced rate.

Main duties of the job
The Hospital Sterilisation and Disinfection Unitservices include, the supply and maintenance of surgical instruments used in surgical and medical procedures. These items are checked into the department after use, then are cleaned, disinfected, packaged, sterilised and delivered back to operating theatres, wards, departments, clinics and GP surgeries.
Applicants should have a Good standard of education with literacy and numeracy skills and have basic computer skills as the position involves daily use of a pc. You will be required to read small letters on instruments and follow written instructions. There will be a short test as part of the interview process and a full tour of the unit will be given. No experience is necessary as you will receive full in-house training.
The successful candidate will have high standards, show a genuine interest in healthcare and patient safety, and be able to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines.
