The Role:
The Department of Psychology at the University started to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate Psychology programmes in September 2024. Our portfolio is expanding, and we are looking to recruit an innovative, student-focused academic to develop curriculum and help shape the future of the Department. You will be excited by the creative possibilities of this new opportunity and will champion innovation and transformational new programmes that reflect and position graduates with advanced knowledge and skills required for new developments across Psychology.
You will deliver high-quality learning, teaching, and student support across the department, achieving excellent student experience and outcomes across the programmes. You should be passionate about teaching Psychology in Higher Education, with an appreciation of the diverse application of theory to the real world. You will have a proven track record working in Higher Education and have experience of working to relevant professional body standards.
This presents an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in any area of Psychology, and our focus is on developing curriculum which helps meet the needs of the workforce and supports our Psychology graduates with achieving strong outcomes. The applicant would be expected to teach across core areas in the BPS accredited Psychology curriculum and across programmes within the department. We particularly welcome those with expertise in biological and cognitive Psychology and quantitative research methods.
As a Lecturer, you will have the chance to play a pivotal role in collaborating with colleagues to ensure that our students receive an exceptional education and a positive higher education experience. Furthermore, our Lecturers work to further the Department's relationships with relevant employers and to provide imaginative and compelling new approaches to pedagogy that make full use of available technologies.
