Position Summary: PRA Group is seeking a new Senior Legal Counsel to join its UK legal team. The role will be based in PRA’s cutting edge offices located in Kilmarnock, with a hybrid working pattern offered. The UK legal team comprises three lawyers and one non-lawyer, providing a friendly and supportive working environment and encouraging healthy working practices and employee wellbeing. The UK legal team forms part of a wider European Group Legal team of over 20 lawyers, which sits within the Global Office of General Counsel headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. This is a senior role offering significant autonomy, focused principally on advising on and executing portfolio acquisitions / investments for PRA Group’s large UK business. The role will also involve supporting the Head of Legal (UK) on commercial and transactional projects and governance matters as required. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Acquisitions/investments: drafting, negotiation and management of asset purchases from end to end, including responsibility for internal governance. You will build strong relationships with, and work alongside, our Investment Directors, Operational partners, Investment Compliance and Treasury teams to ensure smooth delivery of transactions and continuous improvement in our processes. Commercial relationships and projects: you will assist Head of Legal (UK) as needed, to support on UK commercial relationships and projects. You will have opportunities to strengthen your commercial skillset on a wide variety of legal challenges and projects. Compliance, Governance and general counsel: you will work alongside Head of Legal (UK) to provide support, general advice and guidance on other ad-hoc general legal, governance and regulatory matters, deputising for Head of Legal (UK) in local management meetings as required and contributing towards the work and development of the wider European Group Legal function as required. Experience/Qualifications Essential Law degree Significant experience in commercial law firm or equivalent in-house role leading a transactional team Strong commercial acumen, with proven ability to carry out commercial negotiations and fulfil objectives and agree high value complex acquisitions and investments Ability to build, develop and nurture effective business partnering relationships Ability to deal with competing priorities to meet deadlines Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to change approach dependent on audience Desirable Postgraduate Masters, Diploma in Legal Practice/LPC or equivalent preferred Significant post-qualification experience or a strong track record of commercial transactions Compliance Responsibilities Embed PRA CARES values and code of conduct to ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations Understand and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines PRA Group (UK) Ltd applies Equal Opportunities policy at all stages of recruitment and selection process.
