Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer - Southern Water

Are you a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer ready to play a key role in delivering essential infrastructure projects within the water industry? Our client, a leading contractor within the water sector, is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to support critical projects within the Southern Water framework across North Kent.
Responsibilities:
Lead the mechanical engineering aspects of water infrastructure projects, ensuring designs meet client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Develop and review detailed mechanical designs, calculations, and technical documentation for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including civil and electrical engineers, to deliver integrated project solutions.
Provide technical expertise during the project lifecycle, from concept design through to commissioning.
Coordinate with project managers, site teams, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
Conduct site visits to oversee installation, testing, and commissioning activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
Identify and resolve mechanical design challenges, offering innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Support the mentoring and development of junior engineers within the team.Requirements:
Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, ideally within the water sector or related infrastructure industries.
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, pipelines, and treatment plant equipment.
Familiarity with Southern Water frameworks or similar utility frameworks is highly desirable.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex technical challenges.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders.
Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent).
