What is Podiatry? Podiatrist's provide; advice, care, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a range of problems affecting the lower limb. Keeping mobile and retaining independence affects the quality of people's lives. Podiatrists play a pivotal part in reducing the risk of amputation, infection, pain, deformity and hospital admissions. Podiatrists work in both the NHS and independent sector, with opportunities to work in a range of environments and specialisms including; Wound care, Diabetes, Rheumatology, Musculo- skeletal and podiatric surgery. Main duties of the job Podiatrists work with all members of the Multi-disciplinary team. Podiatry is a very rewarding job, most students choose to study Podiatry for job satisfaction and career opportunities. The successful candidate would be employed full-time at band 3 and supported throughout their training by an established podiatry team. Typically apprentices attend university 2 - 3 days a week during term time, with workplace learning for their remaining hours. Degree apprenticeship duration is 2 - 4 years dependent on entry level. On successful completion of the Podiatry degree individuals will progress to a band 5 role.
