Our client is currently seeking an Operations Manager with a background in water hygiene/treatment.
Nature and Scope:
The Operations Manager in conjunction with the Labour Planner in each District will organise and ensure that sufficient labour, materials and equipment are available for any given contract.
To instruct via the Site Supervisors that all Technicians/Casuals/Sub-Contractors are fully conversant with their job instruction, and that all contracts are completed within the given time period, and at the desired margin indicated by the sales quotation.
It will be the responsibility of the Operations Manager to order all necessary equipment/fittings and chemicals, and to ensure that these materials are available to the Technicians prior to the commencement of the job.
The Operation’s Manager will oversee the completion of works, and follow through all paperwork relating to the jobs under his supervision, including checking job sheets, job requests, confirmation to the customer of completion of works, and issuing of certificates. The results of any tests/analyses carried out as part of the works, should be forwarded to the customer using the agreed protocol. Samples taken for future reference should be recorded and stored in the appropriate manner, and the customer informed accordingly.
At all times, the Job Holder is responsible for ensuring that Health and Safety standards and policies are conformed to by the Technicians, and that PPE and other equipment is inspected and calibrated as required.
The Operational Manager, will advise the General Manager of any personnel issues which may occur with the Technicians and offer solutions, and be capable of carrying out disciplinary interviews, as and when required.
He will carry out regular checks on the Technicians, their vehicles and equipment, and ensure they conform to the Company standards in relation to uniform, attitudes, timekeeping etc.,
The Operational Manager will assist in the training of the Technicians by carrying out annual site audits, to ensure that standards are being maintained, and to advise the General Manager on requirements for training.
The Operations Manager will carry out regular meetings with the Technicians to include tool box talks, and to advise the Technicians of any change in legislation and Company policies.
The Operational Manager will be expected to spend at least three days a week within the Office, to assist the Labour Planners by:-
Intercepting telephone calls from the Technicians, by answering any issues raised by them, in respect to their current workload.
The Operational Manager will be expected to advise the Labour Planners, of the labour requirement for pending jobs/contracts, and order fittings and materials necessary for the job as mentioned previously.
The Operational Manager should have a clear understanding of the Works Diary, and to be able to plan/book jobs in the absence of the Labour Planner.
The Operations Manager, in conjunction with the Account Manager/Business Development Manager will view the Risk Assessments and the routine monthly service reports, in order to make recommendations for the remedial works required, to enable the sales personnel to quote accordingly.
The Operations Manager will have regular contact with the Labour Planners/Site Supervisors/Account Manager/Business Development Manager.
Principal Accountabilities.
To assist Labour Planners as listed above.
To complete contracts within the given time period and to the specification to ensure profitability.
To ensure completion of all relevant site paperwork in connection with the job in hand.
To ensure that Technicians under his supervision are trained to the required standards, and conform to the Company’s Health and Safety Policy, and the requirements of the LCA.
To review the training needs of all Technicians and to advise the General Manager of these needs.
To instruct and support the site Supervisors in relation to on-site manpower and completion of work as requested.
