A unique career opportunity has arisen for an experienced individual to help shape the future of how SACT is provided across South East Wales as the Principal Pharmacist, Technical Services, Velindre Cancer Services.
Velindre Cancer Services Pharmacy is a busy tertiary service which provides over 3000 doses per month of aseptically prepared SACT products, (combination of outsourced and in-house manufactured).
With forecasted growth in SACT set to continue to rise, this number will too. This dynamic and friendly team have made huge improvements to efficiencies and our capacity and more now needs to be done to meet our patient needs.
In 2027, we will move to a new hospital. With the national TrAMS service dispensing core SACT treatments at this point, we are seeking someone who has leadership, vision and drive to help us determine how best we can next serve our population. Main Duties of the Job
To be the accountable pharmacist responsible for the operational management of an NHS aseptic unit operating under relevant legislation ensuring that the unit meets Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) requirements, Health and Safety at Work, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) The Human Medicines Regulations and any other relevant statutory requirements.
To deliver a timely, high quality and patient-focused service across Velindre Cancer Service (VCS) and to provide professional advice to VCS Nuclear Medicine Service on the same management of radiopharmaceuticals.
To maintain safe and compliant Pharmacy Technical Services, evaluating and prioritising services when constraints occur, and liaising and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders to maximise production.
To lead a team developing new products and processes using Quality Risk Management (QRM) and Quality by Design (QBD) principles.
To create, monitor and review Capacity and Contingency Plans for Pharmacy Technical Services.
To lead, manage and deliver significant service change or redesign in line with service need.
To regularly undertake research, creating evidence to support service development and enable the evaluation of services provided or supported by the pharmacy service.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
* Master's degree such as Level 7 Pharmaceutical Technology & Quality Assurance (PTQA) or relevant Degree plus knowledge and experience to an equivalent level.
* Management or Leadership qualification or accreditation - or demonstrable equivalent experience.
* Registered as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Desirable
* Quality Improvement Accreditation.
* Training qualification or accreditation, or equivalent experience.
* Experience of SACT production.
* Experience of Clinical Oncology services including verification to BOPA Passport Level 2.
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
