The Role
We're looking for a technology director to lead the Portfolio Management team in EMEA and implement all SDS (Starbucks digital solutions) across retail and digital technology, alongside regional/local, and enterprise solutions in alignment with business and licensee leadership across all ownership models in the region. This is a pivotal role in the Starbucks EMEA region and will cross collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders (being our licensees) requiring a high level of influencing and communication skillset. You'll lead a highly successful team who are motivated to support our stakeholders in leveraging the best out of the Starbucks digital solutions we offer.

What you'll do:
Portfolio Management
* The Technology Delivery/Portfolio Director is accountable for managing the technology relationship between Starbucks EMEA and respective licensees in market, alongside the relationship with our regional equity businesses and their leadership teams.
* The role is a critical interface with licensee/equity leadership teams including CIO/CTOs across our Geo licensees, which in turn requires close alignment with SDS Retail and Digital Directors to improve core retail and digital solutions and with EMEA Tech and GCS for enterprise solutions.
* The role leads all Portfolio Managers/IT Manager(s) to build and maintain market roadmaps & investments for all solutions, in close alignment with market and licensee technology leadership. These strategic directions and priorities must align with SDS product roadmaps and future outlook to drive the business.
* Ensures market solutions are brand and global standards compliant (GLF) and support the customer and partner journeys. The role, alongside EMEA cross functional teams (e.g. legal), must ensure that fiscal or legal requirements of a market are met.
* Lead the work with licensee technology teams and suppliers to deploy and maintain these standard technology solutions.
* The role will work with cross functional SBUX teams to assess market success of technology solutions and recommend future area of improvements.
Leadership
* Setting goals and objectives for the work group, developing organisational capability, and modelling the function of the portfolio management technology team and its relationships with global and EMEA functions.
* Establishes and maintains influential working relationships at all levels within the business and licensee environments necessary to successfully promote technology strategies and innovation opportunities, and ensuring the delivery of operational services to ensure the running of the business
* Leads teams to support strategic technology innovation, planning, and partnerships for Starbucks
* Works with the Senior Leadership Team to identify significant opportunities, map them to the Starbucks’ strategic goals, achieve leadership alignment, and create plans against which to execute
* Defines and communicates the vision and roadmaps for Starbucks Technology and overall enterprise architecture for product and or services to internal and external stakeholders
* Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure tight alignment with Starbucks strategies and programs.
* Manage to budget requirements set for financial goals and delivery
* Ensure business case and operation decision reflect both an equity and licensee view
Planning and Execution
* Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
* Leads and develops long-term technology strategy and business innovation opportunities consistent with the technology needs of the Company and the anticipated growth and expansion of all lines of business regionally.
* Ensures a strategic understanding of technology evolution to anticipate technology needs for future enterprise architecture initiatives.
* Leads business area systems planning and opportunity assessments across Technology and business stakeholder groups.
* Prepares, communicates, and educates client groups and team(s) on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
* Creates the decision process and oversees the governance of technology products and or services deployed globally to ensure it works within the enterprise architecture in manner consistent with enterprise principles and designs.
* Maintains and shares technology roadmap with business leadership to align on priorities
* Communicate Technology roadmap and vision with licensees ensuring awareness of future plans
Business Requirements
* Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
* Develops broad-based business plans to anticipate technology needs and solutions for multiple functions and cross-functional products, platforms, and/or services ensuring compliance and integration into the consulting standards for equity and licensees
* Facilitates governance and compliance of standards to ensure optimization of investment for both equity and in support of licensees.
* Identifies and assesses technology best practices for replication in all units and lines of business.
* Investigates functional redundancy or gaps in systems to identify opportunities to improve efficiency or execution.
* Leads research, analysis and reporting to support business development and merger and acquisition opportunities.
* Leads the identification and negotiation of strategic technology partnerships and contributes to enterprise sourcing contracts to achieve broad business benefit and competitive advantage.
* Leads the senior management team in identifying options and return on investment of technology investments.
* Ensures technology strategy provides cost-effective and value for money solutions appropriate to the needs of the business that supports the overall growth of company owned and licensed stores
Partner Development & Team Building
* Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
* Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.
* Conducts and ensures the completion of quarterly performance and development conversations.
* Develops and manages effective teams to develop and deliver on technology opportunities.
* Builds a leadership pipeline within the team, oversees of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
* Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business, and customer results.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* People management and team leadership experience
* Ability to build relationships with executive management to advise and influence on future directions
* Experience in leading technology solutions, services, security, governance policies, standards and controls development and integration
* Experience with collaborative work environments and ability to influence decisions across functional areas
* Ability to apply sound technology, business, finance, and accounting principles and practices to project management, change management and operational processes
* Experience within a licensee/franchisee organisation
* Ability to deal with ambiguity, and work in a fast-paced and changing environment
* Effective leadership and management skills, including planning, organising, developing, and monitoring partner performance
* Negotiation and conflict management skills
* Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to interact with senior leadership and provide input to the decision-making process
* Ability to use business knowledge, sound judgment, and resourcefulness to adapt existing policies to specific situations and select among varied courses of action
* Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners
* Ability to understand and incorporate technology trends into designs and plans
* Advanced knowledge of service and or system architecture and design principles, practices and enabling tools
