Job Title: Lead Operator
Salary: £56720 basic salary inc shift allowance + potential bonus + fantastic benefits
Contract: 12 months - 42h per week with a continental shift pattern that runs 7 days per week, this contract will commence 2 January 2025
Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity at our Halifax site as a Lead Operator. You will be responsible for the performance and results of the production lines and the control of material, all in accordance with health and safety, quality, and food hygiene standards.
Nestlé Halifax Factory in West Yorkshire is the home of the iconic confectionary brand Quality Street, amongst several other well-known brands such as After Eight, Rolos and Munchies.
A day in the life of a Lead Operator
In this role you will be working in the heart of the production team, collaborating with Shift Managers, Technicians and Maintenance Planners to run the production environment efficiently.
Responsibilities
* In line with Nestlé's continuous drive for excellence, the role will consist of both production and SAP transactions. Most of the transactional tasks relate to handling of materials, stocktaking, variance investigations, and compliance records.
* Using collected data and facts from shift reviews, you will use your analytical skills to identify opportunities to make improvements to line performance and material variance.
* Support and influence colleagues leading and driving continuous improvement using Total Productive Maintenance methodology and Problem Solving to assist Nestlé’s drive for continued excellence.
* You will demonstrate leadership skills, be able to prioritise, support colleagues, and be an effective communicator.
What will make you successful?
The ideal candidate for the role will:
* Demonstrate continuous improvement and structured problem-solving projects.
* Have a proven track record working within a food manufacturing or production environment, although other backgrounds will be considered.
* Preferably be qualified with either an apprenticeship, HNC Level in Business or similar equivalent (NVQ etc), relevant to manufacturing. Successful candidates will complete an apprenticeship, so if candidates do not already have this, they will need to pass as part of the role.
* Have GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Maths & English (must have certificate evidence).
* Be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Knowledge of BI and Power Automate tools is a bonus.
* Have worked with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
* Preferably have led work groups under Lean Manufacturing or TPM principles.
