Job Description
We’re recruiting for a Enhanced Annuity Underwriter to join us. We’re offering a competitive base salary. The role is responsible for providing an excellent Underwriting service that is trusted, valued and provides fair treatment and outcomes for customers. This will be achieved by identifying and gathering all the information required in order to assess applications within business guidelines for a range of enhanced annuity products, with the purpose of maximising sales whilst ensuring the fair treatment of customers and mitigating the risks of financial loss associated with excessive annuity payments.
What you'll be doing:
* Accurately assessing, documenting, and making appropriate offers for Enhanced Annuity applications
* Providing underwriting services that balance a customer’s wants and needs for retirement income and the risks of financial loss associated with excessive annuity payments.
* Using in-depth knowledge of products, services, processes and systems to deliver appropriate customer outcomes
* Thinking in terms of the customer i.e. ‘Outside In’ and identify processes or procedures that inhibit the delivery of successful outcomes and lead to delays in processing times. Suggesting solutions and be willing to deliver improvements
* Taking ownership of own self-development so that technical skills, knowledge and ability to perform the underwriting role are developed
* Ensuring all appropriate legislative, regulatory and internal process & procedure are fully understood and applied. Identifying, reporting and resolving any breaches in line with L&G policy.
* Accurately recording information on IT and workflow systems
* Analysing and presenting underwriting related insight to further the understanding of current and emerging risks, opportunities and customers
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
* ACII desirable
* A good understanding of the diseases & risk factors associated with early mortality in middle aged and elderly lives (50 years upwards).
* Underwriting experience in direct office and/or reinsurer environment.
* Strong working knowledge of all systems, guides and technical tools used to effectively deliver the core end-to-end underwriting proposition.

* Strong analytical skills/Strong PC, data management/retrieval skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
