Job overview
The Emergency Department is looking to recruit X1 full time position within the patient flow and capacity co-ordinator team.
This job will cover a 24 hour, 365 day service with shifts combined of days, twilight and night shifts.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Patient Flow and Capacity Co-ordinator is to monitor and facilitate patient flow to support the ED Team in achieving National Patient Safety Initiatives within the ED.
Act as a point of contact within the ED Team to provide real time information to ensure that patients are seen, treated, discharged or admitted within 4 hours of arrival.
Practice effective breach avoidance by monitoring the ED Tracking board and identifying barriers to flow and escalating appropriately to the Flow Nurse/Nurse in Charge.
Code breaches as they occur in real time to ensure accurate information is recorded to enable timely collation of data as required for National reporting of breaches.
Patient flow within the organisation is pivotal to the quality of patient care to enable the ED Team to provide a positive, safe, patient experience with no delays.
Primarily these tasks include:
* Develop good working relationships to enable effective communication
* Have an overview at all times of the position in the Emergency Department
* Ensure that all patients are being actively managed with an appropriate plan
* Utilise escalation triggers and liaise with the Flow Nurse/Nurse in Charge
* Provide regular SITREP updates to the Clinical Site Team
* Monitoring WMAS ambulance handovers and ensuring the department meet the 1 hour KPI target for ambulance offload.

Qualifications
* GCSE pass in English Language (Minimum Grade C / Level 4-9) or equivalent
* GCSE pass in Maths (Minimum Grade C / Level 4-9) or equivalent
Experience
* Previous administrative and clerical experience
* Experience of close liaison with members of multidisciplinary team
* Previous experience of working with an acute emergency department
* Previous relevant experience in a similar role
Skills
* Good organisational skills
* Understanding of confidentiality
* Computer Literate
* Ability to work as part of team
* Confident telephone manner
* Able to relate to the general public calmly and in a professional manner
* Able to deal with a steady flow of work and sudden episodes of influx of work
