Autism Support - North Yorkshire
We are currently working with a range of schools based in the North Yorkshire area who are looking for Autism Support Assistants with previous experience working with Autism and other learning needs.
Throughout this role as an autism support assistant, you will be required to support learners on a 1:1 basis in class and to help within small groups of two to seven learners as well. The day-to-day support isn't just focused on supporting learners academically; throughout the day, there will be a focus on assisting them with both their social and behavioural needs too.
The aim of this role is to help ensure that both the social and learning aspects of education are made accessible for all learners, no matter what needs or challenges they may face.
Within these specific school settings, there are several vacancies across both primary and secondary sites. However, due to the various needs of the children and how the educational site runs, the ideal candidate would be someone who could work well and be adaptable to children of all ages. However, if you are specifically either a primary or secondary SEN TA, then please still apply for this role.
Essential requirements:
* Previous SEN experience (Autism/Asperger's/Down Syndrome)
* Confident supporting a range of needs, age groups, and behaviour
* Effective classroom management strategies and able to help learners regulate their emotions and behaviour
* Worked with verbal, pre-verbal, and non-verbal communication needs
Key Skills:
* Enthusiastic, hard-working, committed
* Able to build meaningful relationships with both learners and staff
