SAIC is seeking a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Analyst to support the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) program at the US Air Forces Europe / Air Forces Africa (U-A) Warfare Center (UAWC) in RAF Lakenheath, UK.
AFAMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) standards that support the US Air Force, Department of Defense, and mission partners facilitating all-domain Warfighter training across the full spectrum of conflict.
The role of this position is to conduct the initial setup and subsequent continued operations of a new FENIX (F-35 Emulated Non-OFP Interoperability Xperience) site in RAF Lakenheath, UK. This site’s mission is to enable F-35 all-domain joint and coalition tactical training utilizing the FENIX simulator to US, allied, and partner-nation warfighters spanning the United States European Command (USEUCOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR).
Duties of the Modeling & Simulation Analyst will include:
* Provide M&S services and support for all federations, models, and systems in preparation for, during, and after events, including but not limited to training of augmentation personnel; testing; configuration management; functional/operational support; system integration; troubleshooting/debugging; system software and hardware support; and database development, modification, and maintenance (including but not limited to unit, terrain, visual and entity databases).
* As used herein, “events” refers to all activities that require M&S services or support to include but are not limited to exercises; mission rehearsals; threat, functional, operational, risk reduction and integration tests; and training missions and events.
* Identify and submit innovative M&S solutions to enhance existing capabilities.
* Review test plans and define/develop test benches for software libraries.
* Ensure models and simulations comply with UAWC Information Assurance and network security protocols.
* Provide M&S support and expertise in the following domain/mission areas (potentially at multiple locations/instances simultaneously):
o F-35 FENIX
o Next Generation Threat System (NGTS)
o Modern Air Combat Environment (MACE)
o Virtual Reality Scene Generator (VRSG)
o Advanced Simulation Technology Inc. (ASTi) Server (VOISUS)
* Provide support for all models, maps, underlays, and terrain databases in preparation for, during, and after events.
* For the domain / mission areas identified above, prepare, coordinate, and present briefings and lead discussions with a wide range of audiences as requested by the Government.
Travel – Initial requirements for travel will be up to 20% with travel requirements reducing to 10% or below once operations are established.
Qualifications
* US Citizen and Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance.
* Expert-level knowledge and experience in Next Generation Threat System (NGTS).
* Degree in Computer Science or a comparable computer related or IT degree.
* Bachelor's and 9 yrs, Master's and 7; or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree.
* Highly proficient in and shall possess the necessary certifications and credentials needed to effectively operate the M&S federations, models, systems, and their associated components.
* Experience working in a distributed environment using both Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and High-Level Architecture (HLA) protocols.
* Understanding of TCP/User Datagram Protocol (UDP) network communication.
* Understanding of Unicast, Multicast, and Broadcast networking.
Desired Experience/Qualifications:
* Familiarity with F-35 FENIX.
* Familiarity with C++ programming.
* In-depth knowledge of Windows and/or Linux system administration and scripting.
* Experience developing engineering network solutions and technical diagrams, as well as providing port and protocol information for specified systems.
* Experience with Advanced Simulation Technology Inc. (ASTi) Server (VOISUS).
* Experience with M&S federation tools such as Joint Simulation Protocol Analyzer (JSPA), DIS-Filter, and/or JLVC Analysis Workstation (JAWS).
* Familiarity with VMWare and the creation and use of virtual machines.
* Proficient using MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
* Experience working in a virtual computing environment.
* Experience using networking tools such as Wireshark and Netlink.
* Understand of basic computer hardware maintenance.
