The Gatehouse Theatre is a provincial theatre in the heart of Stafford. It has a busy received season showing a variety of Music, Comedy and Drama and is known for punching above it’s weight when it comes to produced shows. Currently the theatre produces 3 studio Youth theatre shows and 1 main house summer school per year, not forgetting it’s acclaimed annual Shakespeare show which attracts famous actors from around the world. Whilst ambitions are high when we produce, our heart is with the local community. We work closely with our local amateur dramatics and dance schools to make their shows the best that they can be. We run community engagement projects such as our afternoon film days which aim to combat loneliness and we support local charities. As Technical Manager you’ll manage the day to day technical operations of our Theatre and work ‘hands on’ on get-ins and get outs with your team. You’ll hold responsibility for ensuring that all performances, and events run smoothly from a technical perspective alongside maintaining a high standard of Health and Safety. We’re looking for candidates who have experience of managing a team and who have a quality all round knowledge of key disciplines involved in the technical process including LX, Sound, Stage, Video and Digital. Proven experience of interpreting technical plans and diagrams. Rigging, flying, Lx, Av, sound. Up to date knowledge of technical theatre and production (e.g., lighting, sound, video, rigging, set construction, wardrobe etc) or relevant and proven knowledge from equivalent fields. Proven experience of managing and motivating a team to achieve consistently high levels of performance and budgets. Excellent people skills and the ability to empathise with performers, directors, and creative teams. Hemp & Motor Flying. Working at height. Experience in rostering staff and managing hours. Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, guidance and practical implementation.
