Background and Role
IMCD UK’s head office is based in Sutton, Surrey and employs over 230 people. The role of the Account Executive within the Pharmaceuticals business unit is to provide essential support to designated Account / Development Managers, ensuring smooth sales operations and enhancing customer satisfaction. The role involves a varied range of administrative duties, customer interaction, and coordination with various departments to facilitate the sales process. In return, the role holder will gain valuable experience within the specialty chemicals and ingredients distribution industry and have the opportunity to utilise and develop their communication, sales data processing and customer services skills within a dynamic multinational company environment.
Your responsibilities at IMCD:
* Provide a high level of administrative support to field-based Account / Development Managers and customers.
* Act as first point of call for customer enquiries / tasks via email, telephone and, on occasion, face to face, attending to any issues or concerns in a timely, efficient and professional manner.
* Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction with IMCD’s products and services.
* Administration of sales leads – briefly qualifying new leads, scheduling visits, preparing visit reports, taking and writing up meeting notes, and noting/taking actions for follow-up.
* Create Business Opportunities (BO), produce quotes and complete Follow Up Reports (FUR), ensuring timely action is taken to maintain the pipeline.
* Process sample requests and ensure timely follow-up with customers, liaising with the HSEQ Department to ensure correct / accurate sample stock.
* Produce and present regular reporting, and conduct regular reviews of specific business KPIs to ensure that business targets are adhered to.
* Assist with market mapping in support of the portfolio.
* Maintain data integrity in SalesForce, ensuring accurate and accessible information at all times (e.g. updating contacts, ensuring pricing is up to date).
* Work with relevant internal stakeholders across the business to overcome challenges, resolve complaints, and streamline/enhance processes.
* Physically join occasional meetings where practically possible, and attend remote meetings by MS Teams to both take notes of the meeting, but also enhance understanding of the business and its customers.
* Support the implementation of projects (e.g. Salesforce initiatives, etc.).
* Any other ad hoc tasks as required.
Ideal Candidate:
* GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English at grades 4-9/C grade or higher.
* Previous experience in sales support or a similar role (essential), ideally within the distribution industry.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
* A team player, working collaboratively with both the team and other internal stakeholders to enable IMCD's success.
* Numerate and analytical, with the ability to utilise data to meet the Company’s goals.
* Good organisation, prioritisation, and time management skills. Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to prioritise accordingly.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Be self-motivated and self-disciplined.
* Dynamic presentation skills and able to execute in one-to-one situations as well as large groups.
* IT literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and experience of working with CRM systems.
