About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our team in Wolverhampton. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing products using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks.
* Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD Operation position
* Degree/HNC/HND/BTEC/NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
* FEA and CAM programming skills
* Proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo etc.
* Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
* Ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to carry out mechanical calculations
* Previous experience of working with process machinery or steel/metal materials desirable
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
* Proficient using MS Office
* Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
Key Responsibilities:
* Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
* Producing 3D designs using SolidWorks CAD software and 2D designs with AutoCAD
* Liaising with manufacturing providers
* Involved in final assembly of products
* Creating documentation for design as well as project reports/plans
* Updating 3D models and drawings
* Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
* Checking drawings for sign off
* Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
