Reed Finance have recently began working again with a client who is looking for someone to join their team to cover maternity for a 9-12 month period. This is a great position for someone who is used to working in contract roles or someone who is looking to take on a new challenge.\n\nThe main purpose of the role is to provide comprehensive support for VAT and tax services, including managing VAT accounting systems, preparing and submitting VAT, CIS, and corporation tax returns, and offering day-to-day guidance on VAT, CIS, and tax-related matters.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nThe Role:\n\nPrepare and submit VAT, CIS, and corporation tax returns as needed.\nOffer specialized advice on VAT, CIS, and tax matters, working with appointed advisors and auditors.\nManage and track VAT shelter arrangements, ensuring proper recovery and accurate documentation.\nMaintain and review the coding structure within the financial management system for correct VAT accounting.\nEnsure the partial exemption special method is fit for purpose and maximize VAT recovery under this method.\nCollaborate with the finance team to review transactions from VAT and CIS perspectives and ensure compliance.\nWork closely with internal and external advisors, as well as auditors, on VAT and tax-related issues.\nSupport development and construction teams with tax-efficient planning for development projects.\nAdminister registrations for VAT, CIS, and corporation tax, while monitoring charitable tax status.\nManage corporate tax charges, including handling payments on account.\nSupervise and guide the VAT Assistant role.\nProvide training to employees on VAT, CIS, and tax matters as required.\nAssist in managing relationships with tax authorities, including HMRC, across VAT, CIS, and direct taxes.\nEvaluate and implement process changes to enhance the efficiency of VAT and tax functions.\nParticipate in projects related to VAT and tax matters, including system upgrades, process reviews, and business analysis.The Person:\n\nSignificant experience in financial management, accounting, and data analysis within a large, complex organisation.\nKnowledge and experience in preparing and submitting VAT, CIS, and Tax returns.\nFamiliarity with Special and Standard Partial Exemption Methods for financial reporting.\nCompetence in handling and analysing large datasets in Excel.\nAbility to provide expert advice on VAT and CIS matters, including Reverse Charge VAT in Construction.\nProficiency in extracting, interrogating, and interpreting financial data to produce accurate and meaningful reports.\nStrong communication, listening, and questioning skills, coupled with analytical and organisational capabilities.\nA proactive approach to resolving issues and implementing financial solutions.\nAbility to evaluate financial and non-financial data and summarise critical insights effectively.\nSkilled at managing work under pressure and meeting challenging deadlines.\nDemonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.\nAdvanced-level expertise in Microsoft Excel.\nEffective communication skills to engage across various platforms and formats, including virtual and in-person interactions.\nCompetence in using Microsoft Office applications e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.This is a fully remote position and would be ideal for anyone who is looking for a more flexible working pattern.
