WCS Environmental Ltd, a leading name in environmental services, is part of the Marlowe Environmental Group. We are seeking a diligent and skilled Financial Accounts Manager to join our Financial Accounts team, which operates within a larger finance team of approximately 70 members. This hybrid role will be based in Gloucester, Gloucestershire.
Role Overview:
As a Financial Accounts Manager, you will play an integral role in supporting the financial stability and compliance of all entities within the Marlowe Environmental Services Group by managing month end reporting deadlines, balance sheet reconciliations, payroll postings, and expense processes. You will ensure our financial practices align with statutory requirements, including VAT and CIS reporting, while contributing to strategic improvements in financial controls and efficiencies. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in ad-hoc projects, collaborate across teams, and support the ongoing development of our finance function. You will manage 3 direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
* Balance Sheet Reconciliation:
Conduct timely reviews of balance sheet reconciliations, working to ensure that any outstanding issues are addressed and resolved.
* Payroll and Expense Oversight:
o Review payroll postings, payroll and expense reimbursement related accruals, credit card transactions, and expense postings prepared by Assistant Management Accountants.
o Provide feedback to drive process efficiencies and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
o Oversee management of the expenses platform and oversee key performance indicators (KPIs) for the expense platform.
o Bonus and commissions preparation and review
o Month end intercompany reporting review and submission for the group.
* Statutory Compliance:
o Ensure full compliance with statutory reporting, including VAT and CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) return reviews and submissions.
o Conduct an initial review of quarterly VAT returns across 14 entities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Process Improvement and Control Implementation:
o Develop and implement control strategies to enhance business processes, ensuring timely and accurate month-end reporting.
o Collaborate with other finance team members to identify, recommend, and implement control measures.
* Technical Expertise and Support:
o Provide technical guidance and support to the wider finance team and the organisation, assisting in the interpretation and application of financial protocols and policies.
o Partner with the Financial Controller to ensure financial processes and policies are kept up to date and effective.
* Project Involvement and Risk Management:
o Participate in ad-hoc projects, contributing to the growth and adaptability of the financial accounts function.
o Conduct financial risk assessments, developing and implementing mitigation strategies to uphold compliance and operational reliability.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Professional Certification: ACA / CIMA qualified or newly qualified.
* Technical Proficiency: Strong Excel skills are essential; experience with Sage 200 is advantageous but not required. CIS experience beneficial.
* Analytical Skills: A detail-oriented mindset with the ability to analyse data, identify discrepancies, and propose solutions.
* Communication and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
