Autonomous drones are set to transform how we manage Critical National Infrastructure — delivering asset inspections and monitoring at scale. At sees.ai, we’re building the system that makes this future a reality, ensuring the safe and effective operation of highly advanced drones flown from a central control room, to unlock the full potential of drone technology.
The Role
As a Senior Technician - Drone Operations, you’ll be at the heart of proving the value of autonomous flight to clients and shaping the future of our technology. You’ll design and execute drone missions that solve real-world challenges, and help develop the drone systems and software that controls them, turning cutting-edge innovation into tangible results.
What You’ll Do
We’re a fast-growing startup, so you will have the real opportunity to shape this role, building on your skills and interests and applying them to drive forward our operations and technology.
1. Delivering Projects: Leading end-to-end drone operations for client contracts—from planning flights to analysing and reporting on outcomes. This may include management of other operators and technicians in a field team.
2. Innovation: Collaborating with our tech team to implement and test new ideas on drones, share field insights, and improve how our systems perform in real-world scenarios.
3. Business Development: Running high-profile demonstrations for clients, proving how drones can revolutionise their operations.
4. Optimising Operations: Manage drone fleets, ensuring they’re mission-ready and aligned with evolving business needs.
Who You Are
This role will suit you if you enjoy a mix of operational, hands-on, engineering, and analytical tasks. You need to have a deep understanding of how system-level requirements translate into low-level actions, and an ability to foresee dependencies and bottlenecks that might block progress.
* A creative, problem-solving engineer or technician who thrives in dynamic environments.
* Experienced in managing complex projects, ideally with drones, aviation, or tech-driven operations.
* A technical, methodical mind, with hands-on-technical skills suited to robotics applications (a combination of electrical, mechanical, software, and calibration). We would consider engineers, technicians, and technically biased drone pilots for this role.
* Skilled at balancing hands-on execution with strategic thinking—you anticipate roadblocks and adapt quickly.
* A mature communicator who can translate technical concepts into clear outcomes for clients and your colleagues in the development teams, both verbally and in concise, clear written reports.
* Willing to travel throughout the UK and internationally (full UK driving licence required).
* Unrestricted right to work in the UK.
We value practical experience and a track record of delivering results. If you’ve led projects that blend operations, tech, and innovation, we want to hear from you.
We are open to applicants at different stages of their career, so salary is negotiable dependent on your experience.
