This contract with our Defence/Nuclear client is for a Commercial Programme Director for 12 months based in Aldermaston, 9 day fortnight night – 2 days per week on site (Most of the team work Weds/Thurs onsite). Responsibilities: The role will report to the Group Commercial Director and be accountable for leading a team of 30 FTE to deliver an annual investment programme of circa £200m per annum in five key programme areas:
* Building Works – delivering series of upgrades to existing building fabric and systems
* Civil Works – delivering new car parks and building extensions.
* Equipment Re-kits – replacing obsolete complex equipment and technology.
* Utilities Works – delivering improvement works to their electrical, gas and steam networks.
* Demolition & Decommissioning – ensuring hazardous waste is removed from surplus assets and completing safe demolition activity.
You will lead a team of commercial professionals to deliver:
* Business Partnering – Embedded with programme managers to understand business needs and translate into effective procurement strategies.
* Commercial Governance – managing commercial risk register, reporting rhythm and chairing Infrastructure Commercial Boards to ensure senior stakeholders are aware of key commercial risks and progress.
* Supplier Relationship Management – managing strategic supplier relationships and ensuring supplier deliver performance outcomes and quality framework.
* Contract Operations - ensuring monthly payment application, Fee review and that all contractual terms related to NEC3 and NEC4 contract are applied.
* Contract Change – working with project managers and suppliers to address contract change events and risk mitigation.
* Contract Disputes – address strategic disputes to protect their commercial interests.
Requirements
* Someone in a leadership role with a commercial background
* NOT a programme direct / ops director - someone that has come up through commercial (qs, into CM into Commercial Director)
* Needs the NEC background but not an expert - need some infrastructure exp,
* Able to create high performing teams, coach develop etc
* Able to demonstrate commercial acumen - complex commercial solutions (major transformation, outsourcing as examples)
* Come up through the ranks or not just a senior commercial manager that has never worked the way up.
* Head of' that can step up or currently director level. Anything below head of would not be suited
* Looking 15 years in commercial space, 5 years managing large teams and delivery complex transactions.
