Job Summary:
Situated in a nursing home looking after our residents that suffer with long and enduring illnesses. The Housekeeping staff provide a clean and safe environment to the residents, visitors and staff ensuring that a high standard of cleanliness in line with National Cleaning Standards, infection control and health and safety are met and maintained. The post holder will be expected to work as part of the wider Housekeeping team, providing an integrated and flexible service, and as such may sometimes be required to undertake duties within other areas of the home should the service demand it.
Main duties of the job:
1. Maintain the required standard of cleaning services following the correct procedure and frequencies
2. To undertake cleaning throughout all areas of the home including residents' bedrooms, communal areas, toilets, bathrooms & the kitchens
3. To report any concerns arising from your duties or any problems with equipment to a senior member of staff
4. Undertake a variety of cleaning duties in line with the ward/area/location cleaning schedules
5. Operate mechanical cleaning equipment
6. Replenish disposables and consumables
7. Safely and correctly store cleaning chemicals and equipment
8. Carry out specialist cleaning and one-off cleaning duties in line with service requirements
9. Assist with laundry duties as and when required
10. Make and change beds when required
11. Supervise members of the housekeeping team and ensure that all cleaning records are kept up to date
12. Order and manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
13. Daily room checks
14. Monitor and update all COSHH records
15. Ensure that all PPE and cleaning products are ordered as necessary and stored correctly
16. Evaluate performance and provide ongoing support to ensure high standards are maintained
17. Home based catering duties to ensure in conjunction with care team so that service users are provided with appropriate meals
18. Ensure that meals are served in a presentable and timely manner and appropriate cutlery and condiments are supplied
19. Assist to ensure dining room area is ready for service and cleared afterwards
20. Record waste levels at end of service
21. Greet visitors
Person Specification:
1. 1 year plus cleaning experience is essential
2. Willing to complete all in-house training necessary to own role
3. Basic food hygiene certificate is desirable
4. Experience of working in the care setting is desirable
5. Experience in food preparation and handling is desirable
6. Manual handling experience is desirable
