We are looking for a part time, 25 hour per week, Support Worker, an exciting opportunity to work with residents of The Salvation Army, Isle of Wight Homelessness Service, Carisbrooke & Ryde. The successful applicant will be a good communicator, enthusiastic and positive.
The Salvation Army Isle of Wight Homelessness Service - Stage 2 provides a programme of support for 21 men and women. This opportunity is for a motivated, passionate and dynamic individual to help us to provide personalised intervention programmes for our residents, supporting them on their individual journeys from the street to home through the Stages of the Homelessness Pathway on the Island. This role is primarily working at our accommodation in Carisbrooke. Being a car driver is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
The role of Support Worker with the Salvation Army is an inspirational one and key to achieving successful outcomes for our vulnerable clients. As a motivated and dynamic support worker you will be responsible for developing and delivering a high-quality programme of support which promotes client choice and control. You will work to address client’s support needs, emotional and psychological trauma, substance misuse, mental health, physical health and wellbeing, enabling them to make positive life choices and ultimately empower them to lead fulfilling lives.
Responsible to: The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:
Knowledge of support needs which are commonly faced by homeless and vulnerable clients
Ability to work in a busy environment, prioritise, be solution focused, show good time management skills and make decisions under pressure
Motivation towards supporting vulnerable clients to achieve focussed and positive life outcomes.
A full Driving Licence and use of a car is essential
