A full-time Residential Sports Graduate is required to assist within our PE Department and boarding house. The post would suit someone with a Sports Science or sports related degree or equivalent, who has a passion for Sports and is looking for experience in a school with the possible aim of entering the teaching profession.
No formal teaching experience is required but an understanding of the expectations required at a busy and thriving school such as Kent College Pembury is beneficial.
The role involves working closely with the PE and Boarding staff across the Preparatory and Senior School. We are looking for a person with energy and who is committed to the wellbeing of young people. They will need to be empathetic, have a sense of humour, work well in a team and be able to deal calmly and efficiently with a variety of tasks. There is also a high degree of contact with parents and guardians, and the Residential Sports Graduate needs to have high levels of communication skills.
Sporting Duties
During the week, Residential Sports Graduate will be required to:
* Coach and umpire teams in various sports each term.
* Support the teaching of core PE and swimming lessons.
* Supporting the team in the preparation for key events and including fixtures.
* Play a full role in the life of the school, including Saturday morning sports fixtures.
House Duties
During the evenings and weekends, Residential Sports Graduate will be required to:
* Be aware of and support the general health and wellbeing of pupils in the House.
* Assist with the care, supervision, cleanliness and presentation of pupils in the House, coordinating and liaising with other Boarding staff as necessary.
* Be on call overnight for Taster Nights.
* Spend some social time with the boarders and, together with the House staff supervise their shower, morning and bedtime routines.
* Be available to supervise flexi boarders who stay overnight.
* Help organise house social functions for boarders.
* Supervise the boarders’ activities.
A single bedroom flat is provided throughout the period of employment, inclusive of all bills.
