Freelance Garment Production
Freelance Garment Production Role - Zen Den (Surbiton Studio or Remote)
Zen Den is a forward-thinking, independent fashion label and online vintage shop based in Surbiton. With continued growth and a strong community of customers who value unique style and conscious fashion, we’re now looking for a skilled garment producer to join us on a flexible, part-time freelance basis.
Our collections are made from dead-stock fabrics and designed with intention - combining sustainability with subculture-inspired silhouettes. We’re seeking someone reliable and detail-oriented to help us bring these limited-run designs to life.
Role Responsibilities:
* Accurately sew pre-designed garments using provided samples, sewing guides, or tech packs
* Cut and construct garments using dead-stock or pre-cut materials, depending on the project
* Finish pieces to a high standard, ensuring neat seams, hems, and trims
* Perform quality checks throughout production to maintain Zen Den’s craftsmanship and fit standards
* Communicate effectively and provide updates on production progress and any challenges
* Maintain efficiency while upholding slow fashion values - prioritising quality over speed
Requirements:
* Experience in garment construction with a strong understanding of sewing techniques
* Ability to operate domestic and/or industrial sewing machines, overlockers, and finishers
* Confidence working with a range of fabrics (stretch, woven, mesh, velour, etc.)
* Excellent attention to detail and a passion for quality
* Understanding of sustainable production practices is a bonus
Location & Flexibility:
* Based in our Surbiton studio or can work remotely from your own setup
* Part-time/flexible hours - ideal for freelancers or those with other commitments
* Paid per-piece, with rates dependent on garment complexity and time required
Why Join Zen Den:
This is a chance to be part of a creative, growing brand that values individuality, sustainability, and culture. You’ll help turn unique designs into wearable pieces, contributing to collections that stand out and make a statement.
