Teaching Personnel is seeking a confident, charismatic and passionate Behaviour Mentor for a SEMH school in East Bristol.
This school specifically caters to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them manage their behaviour in line with school expectations.
2. Build trusting relationships with students to foster a sense of safety and inclusion.
3. Work alongside teachers and other support staff to implement personalised behaviour plans and strategies tailored to individual student needs.
4. Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution.
5. Act as a role model, promoting positive behaviour, respect, and resilience.
6. Help students re-engage with learning after behavioural incidents and work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure a smooth transition back into the classroom.
7. Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies as needed to ensure the best outcomes for students.
8. Maintain accurate records of incidents, progress, and interventions, and contribute to behaviour reviews and planning meetings.
The successful educator will have:
1. Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or other behavioural challenges (e.g., in an SEN school, pupil referral unit, or youth work setting).
2. A patient, calm, and empathetic approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people with complex needs.
3. Strong interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with students and work effectively within a team.
4. Knowledge of behaviour management strategies, de-escalation techniques, and restorative approaches.
5. Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations in a positive, solution-focused manner.
6. [Desirable] Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or counselling, or specialised training in behaviour management.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
