Graduate Materials Scientist at PARC

Role Profile
As a Materials Scientist, you will be working as part of a multidiscipline team within the Product Assurance Response Centre (PARC). PARC’s activities include the provision of rapid technical troubleshooting services relating to components, production and processes. This role will provide you with the chance to develop your skills within materials science where every day is different.
Your main responsibilities as a Materials Scientist / Chemist will involve:
* Providing rapid troubleshooting and failure analysis service relating to components, production and processes.
* Ensuring high performance, quality, value, and competitiveness throughout BAE Systems.
* Using test and analytical equipment to ensure problems are solved in a timely fashion.
* Preparing technical reports, test procedures, process specifications and other product documentation.
* Liaising with both internal and external customers, including travel and visits to other business units.
* Knowledge of materials properties, selection, processing and testing, including polymers, metals, ceramics and composites.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal graduate will have excellent analytical and numerical skills and be able to demonstrate objective and logical thinking. You will have a desire to learn along with having a creative mind. Clear and effective communication skills are essential, along with being articulate both verbally and in writing. You will be expected to work well as part of a team, so interpersonal skills are key. Competence in Microsoft Office packages is essential.
Membership of a recognised technical institution would be advantageous as well as knowledge of modern analytical techniques (In-house training will also be provided). A proven track record in a production, electronics or quality environment is preferable.

Entry Requirements
• You will need to have obtained or be studying towards a 2:2 or above in Materials Science/Chemistry or Metallurgy.
• You will need to have graduated within the last 3 years.
Security Clearance
Only those with the permanent and unrestricted right to live and work in the UK will be considered for a position within BAE Systems Digital Intelligence. Successful candidates for this role will be required to go through Government SC clearance prior to starting with us.
