Your job in a nutshell:
We are recruiting a Senior IT Specialist to work at our client facility in Cumbria, UK.
The role will involve working across multiple IT disciplines (such as servers, storage, databases, security tools, audio visual equipment), but the primary requirement is for an infrastructure engineer.
What will you be doing:
1. Incident management to resolution
2. Carrying out regular maintenance tasks to ensure the systems under support can continue to meet availability and performance requirements.
3. Carrying out server monitoring
4. Upgrade hardware, firmware, software under Change control
5. Racking and cabling hardware
6. Patching network connections
What are the working conditions?
Shift work, following a 2 x 12.5-hour day shifts, 2 x 12.5-night shifts, and 6 rest days pattern.
Located at customer site - Cumbria.
Member of a shift team containing one Network specialist, one Infrastructure specialist, and one Storage, Database, and Security Tooling specialist. There are five shift teams in total.
Requirements:
1. An experienced Infrastructure Engineer with excellent knowledge of Windows operating systems and all related operational software, hypervisors, and HP hardware.
2. Hands-on experience of other areas of IT, such as storage, networks, desktop support, database, security tools, audio visual equipment.
3. ITIL 4 qualified, with experience of implementing system modifications via Change control.
4. Ability and motivation to learn new IT skills.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. A strong analytical troubleshooting approach.
7. SC clearance with the eligibility to obtain DV clearance.
