About the role
In your role as Data Platform Architect, you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to be jointly responsible for designing and implementing a cloud data platform to enable USSIMs core investment data capability. The architect will be a multi-product specialist with technical ownership of the platform components; will guide best practice, standards, and technical ways of working.
What you will be doing
As a key member of the IMS Technical Architecture team, initially working within the Data Strategy Project delivery team, you will:
1. Provide analysis on technical components to assist in vendor selection
2. Define and own non-functional platform requirements
3. Analyse existing systems and provide guidance on future architectural changes
4. Design and support the implementation of platform components (above the infrastructure layer) as required for the data platform
5. Define platform component interactions
6. Define, document, and educate users on data platform operational procedures
7. Assist in the migration of systems from the legacy data centres to the new platform
8. Collaborate with the USSIM Data Architect, IT Infrastructure Architects and IMS/EUC Development teams to ensure a well architected and managed platform
As an SME and owner of Data Platform Components, you will:
1. Work with the IMS/Technical Architecture teams to ensure compatibility with existing software development disciplines (Development, DevOps, Testing, Support)
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify training needs for the platform components
3. Define platform best practice standards and processes
4. Provide ongoing guidance and assistance to the development teams
5. Identify areas of process/technical improvement
6. Manage platform upgrades and enhancements
7. Provide regular updates and reports on the platform to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders (including platform performance, cost modelling, usage statistics, capacity forecasting, compute usage)
About you

To be successful in the role you will have:
1. Expertise in Cloud Data Management Platforms (Snowflake & MS Fabric a must)
2. Experience in implementing a large data platform
3. Working knowledge of cloud ETL tooling, Data Storage Cloud technologies, Semantic Layers, APIs
4. Knowledge of Cloud Data Vendor solutions (GoldenSource, S&P, RIMES)
5. Proficiency in C# .NET, SQL, and PowerShell. Knowledge of Python
6. Tech evangelist who follows market trends
7. Strong communication and collaboration skills
8. Ability to work independently and within a team environment
9. Investment management experience is desirable but not a must
