We are seeking an experienced Legal Cost Draftsman to join our dynamic team in Darlington, specialising in Court of Protection. Additional knowledge & experience in Legal Aid (Family & Childcare) & Personal Injury Claimant cases is a plus. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to meticulously prepare and draft legal costs associated with our matters. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Accurately assess and draft legal costs for cases, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines. Collaborate with legal professionals to gather necessary information for cost assessments. Conduct detailed reviews of legal files, invoices, and documentation to determine appropriate cost recovery. Prepare bills of costs, schedules and other legal documents related to legal proceedings. Stay informed about changes in legislation and regulations affecting legal costs, specifically within the Court of Protection field. Liaise with clients, solicitors, and external agencies to resolve queries and provide transparent explanations of cost assessments. Maintain accurate records and documentation of cost-related activities. Assist in negotiating settlements and resolving disputes related to legal costs. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Proven experience as a Legal Cost Draftsman, with a focus on Court of Protection cases. Further experience in Legal Aid (Family & Childcare) / Personal Injury Claimant cases would also be preferable. In-depth knowledge of Court of Protection procedures and regulations. Strong analytical and numerical skills with an eye for detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with legal professionals and clients. Familiarity with legal billing software and related tools. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. WE CAN OFFER: Competitive salary.
