Description Lubrication and thermal management of bearings is an important aspect of modern gas turbine design and operation. Accurate models are vital in supporting the optimisation of engine designs and to understand performance and behaviour; however, conventional high-fidelity models of two-phase flows are computationally expensive and are not efficient for exploration during the early phases of an engine design. This project will develop a methodology to efficiently model scavenge flows in bearing chambers, validating against existing state of the art and identifying potential gaps in validation data. Once developed, this approach will then be used to explore the robustness of current scavenge arrangements to changes in boundary conditions and / or feature positions.
