Role Overview As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN), working closely with teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences. You will take responsibility for leading small group sessions, assisting with lesson planning, and providing tailored support to ensure each student reaches their full potential. This role is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA with a passion for SEN education and a desire to contribute to a positive and nurturing learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Pupil Welfare and Safeguarding Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT. Provide meaningful feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships and attitudes. Monitor pupils conduct and behaviour throughout the learning process and intervene to resolve highly complex, difficult or very challenging issues and to keep records of incidents, health, behaviour etc. as necessary. Supporting Teaching and Learning To lead in the absence of any Class Teachers across the school. Assist the Class Teacher with carrying out the professional duties of a teacher as outlined in the Professional Standards for Teachers. Know and understand the Class Teacher’s curriculum planning and to plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individual, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary within agreed systems of supervision. To provide high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through teaching a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning. Develop and implement individual plans for pupils (such as the educational elements in an EHCP), including attendance at, and contribution to, reviews if requested. Required Qualifications & Experience GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
