Job Description
Are you passionate about CAD, PDM, and ensuring smooth product lifecycle management? We are looking for a dedicated individual to help us shape the future of product development and innovation at Smiths Detection.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of supporting and advancing our Configuration and Product Data Management Systems, working closely with cross-functional teams in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and more.
As a CAD Systems Administrator, (PDM Support) you'll be supporting the development, deployment, and maintenance of systems crucial to managing product data and configurations. You'll assist in the maintenance of CAD and PDM systems, offer technical support, and collaborate with teams to ensure that products meet the highest standards throughout their lifecycle.
What You'll Do:
* Provide hands-on admin support for CAD and PDM systems, including user creation and access management.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CAD tools such as SolidWorks and PDM systems.
* Support system upgrades, downtime, and maintenance, ensuring continuous availability and optimal configuration.
* Create work instructions and training materials to empower users.
* Collaborate with teams across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Service to streamline processes and workflows.
* Champion change initiatives that benefit the organization.
* Stay up to date with technological developments and assist in the introduction of new systems.

Qualifications
What We're Looking For:
* Technical Expertise: Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and product data management tools (SolidWorks Manage is a plus).
* Experience: At least five years in a similar role with a focus on CAD and PDM systems.
* Knowledge: Familiarity with SQL, Microsoft ERP systems, and the engineering design process.
* Collaboration: Ability to work seamlessly within teams, engaging with people across all levels of the organization.
* Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to interact with suppliers, designers, and senior leadership.
* Professional Development: Eagerness to continuously learn and grow your skill set.
Desirable
Qualifications
:
* Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent (Accredited by a relevant body is a plus).
* Experience with military standards or knowledge of ERP tools is an advantage.
* Background in training others on CAD and draughting (BS:8888 standards).
