Working under the direct supervision of the practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Main duties of the job
General Duties
1. Health reviews for long-term conditions (Every Contact Counts)
2. ECG recording
3. Chaperoning duties
4. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
5. Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
6. Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
7. Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
8. Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
9. Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
10. Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
11. Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
12. Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
13. Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified in Phlebotomy
* Qualified in NVQ level 3
Experience
* Experience of working with EMIS web (clinical IT system)
* Experience of working with Docman (clinical correspondence system)
* Experience of working with MS Office (including Outlook, Word & Excel)
* Experience of working in an NHS GP surgery
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting
