We have an exciting opportunity for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, supportive team at one of our large, well-equipped modern surgeries in the Scottish Borders. The Scottish Borders is renowned for its beautiful scenery, wonderful walks and mountain biking trails. We are also only 1 hour from Edinburgh with the Borders Railway on your doorstep. Who we need: We need an enthusiastic permanent small animal vet to join us as one of our recent graduates is heading back home to the Cayman Islands after 2.5 years with us. The position would suit an experienced small animal vet or a confident recent graduate. What we can offer you: · Varied 1st opinion caseload. We have vets with interests in orthopaedics, exotics, internal medicine and behaviour. We also offer lap spays and acupuncture/physiotherapy. · 15 minute appointments for routine things, 30 minutes for euthanasia’s/ blood sampling etc. · Opportunities to consult and operate equally shared between the team. · Working day usually 8.30am – 6pm (8am start on operating day), and we nearly always get away for lunch and finish on time Our last consulting appointment is 5.30pm. · Support of an experienced and friendly team of vets, most of us have been with the practice for 4 years. · Really strong team ethos with an active social committee, we organise everything from cinema outings to zip-lining to stand-up paddle boarding · 1:3 Saturday mornings 8am – 12pm. · OOH provider in house at our Gala branch. This gives us good case continuity, and we have an excellent working relationship with our OOH team. There are occasionally opportunities to cover shifts for the OOH team if you would like to. · Full-time hours are 4.5 days a week which can be taken as a half day per week or a full day every fortnight. · 30 days holiday per year (pro rata for PT) · We have a salary scale in place for Veterinary Surgeons up to £60K · We are happy to help you find accommodation if you are relocating.
