Overview:
To supervise the production team and organise labour to meet the daily and weekly production schedule.
Manage the relationship with agency labour provider, identifying labour needed to meet production plan and ensuring it is provided.
Liaise with other departments (Blending, Warehouse, Planning etc.) to ensure materials are available for production in a timely manner.
Maintain production records including output, downtime and stock movements.
Reconcile stocks at the end of works order and close works orders.
Carry out routine quality checks and implement corrective actions.
Carry out machine changeovers and basic fault finding.
Manage any equipment breakdowns and carry out simple repairs.
Complete routine maintenance tasks.
Carry out back to work interviews.
Carry out operator role when required to cover breaks or unplanned absence.
Requirements:
1. Food manufacturing experience.
2. Formal food safety training, minimum Level 2 food safety training. HACCP experience an advantage.
3. Good appreciation of health and safety requirements when working with automated machines and workplace vehicles.
4. Experience of machine setting, changeover, and troubleshooting is essential.
5. Engineering / technical skills / experience essential.
6. Competent in the safe use of hand tools.
7. Good written communication and numeracy.
8. Good IT skills.
9. Basic Excel and Word capability.
10. Ability to work under pressure.
11. Good eye for detail.
12. Flexible approach towards work.
13. Physically fit (duties include lifting/moving products).
14. Able to lead team meetings; experience leading group problem solving or Continuous Improvement workshops is an advantage.
