About the team: SRUC farms operate on 4,312ha of land in Scotland in the following locations:- Bush Farms, Edinburgh Oatridge Campus, Edinburgh Craibstone Campus, Aberdeen Hill and Mountain Research Centre, Crianlarich Barony Campus, Dumfries Crichton Royal Farm, Dumfries SRUC Farms manage enterprises in Dairy, Beef, Sheep, Deer, Arable Crops and Farm Diversification supporting SRUC Research, Teaching and Consultancy. We are now looking for a Stockperson to join our Easter Howgate Farm to manage our Sheep, Deer and Dairy replacement operations on that site. About the opportunity: We are seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Beef Stockperson to join the modern and progressive Easter Howgate Research Farm. Duties will include: Be responsible to the Farm Manager for the day to day operations of our 350 cow Beef Suckler Unit consisting of Limousin, Aberdeen Angus and Luing Cows. Liaise with Technicians regarding research requirements. To be responsible in the promotion and maintenance of high standards of animal health, well-being, welfare and productivity of SRUC farm livestock. To promote industry good working practices and a safe clean working environment. Complete daily work duties in accordance to the overall priorities identified by the Farm Manager. Develop professional working relationships with other staff. Providing occasional instruction to students in beef production and livestock husbandry during on farm practical sessions. Ensure that the SRUC's policies on Health, Safety & Welfare are implemented and monitor systems of work in order to achieve a safe working environment. Minimum qualifications and experience: A formal training course at a land-based college, to National Diploma or National Certificate level or equivalent experience.
