Part of Pearson School Qualifications, the Assessment division combines excellence in assessment with outstanding customer experience. The division has end-to-end responsibility for delivering accurate results of high-stakes UK and international qualifications to our learners.
This role will work across the wider assessment division, ensuring we provide a best-in-class learner experience.
Position Summary
We are looking for an empathetic and proactive Learner Support and Safeguarding Lead to ensure a secure, fair, and supportive experience for learners using the Remote Invigilation Service to access their assessments. This role is critical to safeguarding learner welfare, addressing their needs, and maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
Key Responsibilities
Safeguarding and Welfare Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and monitor safeguarding policies and procedures.
2. Identify and address potential safeguarding risks.
3. Investigate and manage safeguarding incidents or complaints.
4. Ensure compliance with data protection and child protection regulations.
5. Monitor and track the progress of vulnerable learners.
Exam Integrity and Compliance:
1. Collaborate with invigilation teams to monitor sessions for compliance.
2. Ensure robust processes for learner identity verification.
3. Regularly review and improve safeguarding measures.
Learner Support:
1. Serve as a key point of contact for safeguarding and support needs.
2. Facilitate communication between families, external agencies, and staff.
3. Liaise with parents to discuss their child's needs.
4. Provide guidance to parents regarding available resources.
5. Provide tailored support for learners with special requirements.
Training and Awareness:
1. Deliver safeguarding and learner engagement training to staff.
2. Promote awareness of safeguarding policies among stakeholders.
Data and Reporting:
1. Maintain accurate records of safeguarding incidents and feedback.
2. Provide reports and insights to leadership on trends and challenges.
3. Use learner feedback to develop improvement strategies.
Qualifications and Skills
Key Skills and Attributes:
1. Strong understanding of safeguarding regulations.
2. Knowledge of special educational needs (SEN).
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to build positive relationships with learners and families.
5. Strong organizational skills.
6. Proactive approach to identifying learner needs.
7. Experience in managing sensitive information.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Relevant qualification in education, social work, psychology, or related field.
2. Experience in an educational or safeguarding setting.
3. Knowledge of relevant legislation in safeguarding and SEN.
4. A current Enhanced DBS check.
Working Conditions:
This role offers a hybrid working model, based out of one of our offices in Manchester, London, or Hellaby. Full-time position with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend meetings. Occasional travel may be required.
