We’re looking for an experienced countryside ranger who’s ready for a new challenge. You’ll be working at the forefront of nature conservation and land management, managing a dedicated team of rangers and volunteers in a landscape that’s important for its history and wildlife and is loved by people. What it's like to work here: You will be part of the Outdoors Team. Your working week will usually be Monday to Friday, with regular weekend working of 2 Sundays a month and occasional evening work for events. The vacancy is Fixed Term as the current Area Ranger is on secondment until February 2026. Interviews are on Monday 28 April. What you'll be doing: As the Area Ranger, you’ll manage a small team of rangers based at Croome and occasionally at other locations in the South Worcestershire portfolio. You’ll develop a flexible program of work guided by business needs and the Trust’s strategy for restoring nature and enabling everyone to enjoy the countryside. Your role involves maintaining high standards of presentation and property maintenance, building relationships with stakeholders, introducing the community to nature conservation through events, and raising funds for the Trust. Who we're looking for: Experienced in managing land, nature conservation, and access for people, including running small projects and supervising contractors. Used to developing and running programs to achieve specific goals in conservation or access. A strong team player with experience in leading and managing staff and volunteers. Practical skills in caring for various habitats and landscapes, with certifications in chainsaw use, tractor driving, and towing trailers. Able to work safely and lead on compliance, including writing risk assessments and safety procedures. Enthusiastic about communicating the importance of your work to diverse audiences.
