Job Summary
Northern Arc PCN is seeking a newly qualified GP, who has completed their training within the last two years, to work 6 sessions on an initial fixed term contract until the end of March 2025 (with the possibility of extension).
Main Duties of the Role
As a PCN GP, the job holder will work across the PCN practices providing high quality patient care to our local community. Adhering to the standards set by the General Medical Council (GMC), the job holder will practice good medical ethics and maintain high standards of clinical practice.
The post-holder will be part of supportive and friendly multi-disciplinary teams in the practices and PCN.
About the PCN
Northern Arc is a forward-thinking PCN of 33,000 patients based in North-West Bristol. It consists of two GP practices – Shirehampton Group Practice, which is a single site practice, and Pioneer Medical Group which has 3 sites. The PCN prides itself on its collaborative and supportive culture.
The PCN provides a number of joint services; we have First Contact Physiotherapists, a Health & Wellbeing Coach, Care Coordinators and Social Prescribers, along with Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians working from our joint Prescribing Hub.
About the practices
Pioneer Medical Group
* All clinicians meet together daily for morning coffee.
* All GPs have Personal Administrators to assist in reducing paperwork time.
* Structured weekly clinical education meeting.
* Mentor for all clinicians with regular protected time to meet.
* Active training practice with 4 GP trainers.
* Active research practice within the primary care research consortium.
* Clinical team includes Urgent Care Practitioners who do our home visits freeing time for admin in the middle of the day.
* Two-week induction period.
* Regularly meetings with staff from all sites.
Shirehampton Group Practice
* We have a varied patient population with low home visit numbers. We operate a mixture of on-call and routine clinics, with a combination of telephone, face-to-face and eConsult appointments.
* Our emphasis is on humour and peer support to meet the current challenges in primary care. We have a clinical team catch up every morning and lunchtime in our spacious, top floor staff room - on the rooftop terrace if it’s not too cold! There is also weekly team coffee provided, and a regular supply of cake and biscuits.
* We are a GP training practice, with a commitment to teaching Bristol University undergraduates. We also teach GP registrars and FY2s and were awarded the North Bristol Academy Teaching Practice Award for 2021/22.
* We are a close-knit bunch, with a friendly and supportive team providing nursing and administrative backup. We enjoy entertaining staff nights.
