* Job Title - Senior Clothing Designer
* Location - JD Group, Hollinsbrook Way, Pilsworth, BL9 8RR
* Working Hours - Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, 40 hours per week.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Senior Designer, you'll be doing the following:
* Design and develop Exclusive and licence brand outdoor clothing and accessories for men, women, and kids.
* Interpret initial design briefs into relevant commercial and technical designs.
* Take responsibility for each range/brand to grow the apparel category.
* Design products that achieve target cost and brand positioning.
* Understand garment technology including fit and function.
* Manage the Junior Designer, ensuring objectives are met and contribute to the development of that role.
* Stay aware of market trends and competitor products within the outdoor marketplace and beyond.
* Work with the Head of Exclusive brand to ensure product ranges are relevant and positioned clearly within each outdoor brand.
* Ensure designs are 'fit for purpose' using knowledge and experience of designing outdoor/technical products.
* Visit stores and all retail on a regular basis to understand the customer and store environment.
* Collaborate with graphic designers and the development team to develop 'best in class' products.
* Work on detailed tech packs to hand over to the developer for accurate prototypes and costings.
* Knowledge/experience of PLM and CLO is an advantage.
* Present detailed line art of ranges to the nominated Buyer, ensuring designs fulfill the design brief.
* Lead design meetings.
* Collaborate with the web and content team to ensure each brand is positioned correctly.
* Work across all outdoor retail fascia's.
* Work within the critical path and strive to improve lead times where possible.
* Be flexible working across different brands while maintaining brand DNA.
* Work on a number of outdoor technical brands and be instrumental in the development of each brand.
* Conduct factory and supplier visits when necessary, including the Far East.
* Attend trade shows.
* Work with web and marketing to ensure all brands are positioned correctly and all information is accurate.
What We're Looking For:
* Experience in technical/outdoor clothing design.
* Fully experienced in Illustrator.
* Fully literate in Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
* Able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and often challenging environment.
* Ability to work quickly and effectively while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
* Highly organized and methodical.
* Creative thinker and problem solver.
* Ability to clearly articulate ideas and explain design decisions to line manager and development team.
* Calm under pressure, allowing for multi-tasking of numerous briefs at any one time.
* Self-motivated, using any downtime wisely and planning time carefully.
