Due to continued expansion at our Key Client in Somerset, we are seeking a Laboratory Technician on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

What will you do?
1. You’ll be responsible for registering, preparing and testing samples, including weighing, and quality control of media.
2. You’ll maintain high levels of hygiene in the lab at all times, including cleaning and swabbing of equipment within the lab.
3. You’ll conduct tests on raw material and product samples, including reporting all results in a timely manner.
4. You’ll perform routine internal calibration of equipment and arrange external calibration, ensuring records are accurately maintained.
5. You’ll report and investigate non-conformances, ensuring close out of all actions.
6. You’ll conduct daily temperature and weight checks.
7. You’ll count and calculate test results, ensuring accurate data entry of test results.
What we need from you:
Previous experience in a microbiology lab is highly desirable for this role, along with IT literacy, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of the wider team – this is especially important in terms of sharing the laboratory opening-up procedure which requires approx. 1 weekly start at 06:00.
The role is working on day shift Monday to Friday from 08.30 – 17.00 (with occasional early start as mentioned).
This job could be suitable for someone with previous lab experience or someone who has an academic background that features scientific qualification.
