Do you have an understanding of Lean Manufacturing processes? Do you have a continuous improvement background, and would you be competent at looking how we could do things better to reduce downtime and increase plant performance and output?
If so, then please read on.
The basics:
Job Title: Project Engineer - Process and Continuous Improvement Department.
Location: Port Talbot
Environment: Manufacturing/Production
Hours: Monday to Friday (8.30am to 4.30pm)
Holidays: 33 days, 10% employer contribution pension, annual company bonus up to 10% of gross salary, quarterly bonus, life cover x3 of salary.
Benefits: Death in service x3 of salary, Pension.
Overview:
The Project Engineer will help identify process improvements that will reduce costs, improve plant availability, and increase productivity/performance. The initial project will focus on the SMED process - with training provided, you will be tasked to reduce changeover times.
In the first 6 months, you will review the issues related to changeovers. An element of being 'hands-on' in terms of performing the changeover process yourself will be required - you must be competent with hand-held tools such as spanners and ratchets. This is NOT a hands-on role, but it requires some involvement to understand the issues.
The company has sites across the globe; therefore, approximately 2 weeks at one of the plants in Belgium will be required to observe their SMED project implementation to bring back learnings and ideas to your dedicated site.
This role will suit someone with a process and continuous improvement mindset - focused on how to do things better.
Minimum Requirements:
The ideal candidate/Project Engineer may have some of the following; however, these are only desirable and not essential as all applications will be considered individually:
* Previous experience working in a continuous improvements-focused role within an automated production/manufacturing environment or similar.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with production staff and other departments across the site.
* Any Lean manufacturing-focused qualifications advantageous.
Commutable from: Port Talbot, Swansea, Neath, and surrounding areas.
If you are interested in the Project Engineer role, please apply immediately due to the urgency of this position.
