Engineering Manager Location: Cambridgeshire Salary: Up to £85k Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (On-site) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our electronics client to lead and oversee all new product development processes, technology roadmaps, and improvements to existing designs. You will manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team and drive continuous improvement within the design and development functions. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in electronics, and compliance knowledge (CE standards, ISO 9001). The successful candidate will play a key role in stabilising and advancing engineering operations while ensuring seamless project execution and product innovation. Key Responsibilities Lead the engineering department, providing technical direction and line management to a team across software, firmware, hardware, electronics, test rigs, mechanics, and documentation. Ensure timely project delivery while maintaining high-quality engineering processes. Maintain and manage the company's ISO 9001 procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for product development, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Manage the engineering budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources. Oversee and improve engineering processes, ensuring the use of best practices in hardware, firmware, and software development. Identify and address compliance gaps (e.g., Declarations of Conformity) and create plans to resolve them. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Sales, Product Management, Supply Chain, Production, HR, and Finance. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and reliability. Recruit, train, and develop the engineering team, ensuring high performance and professional growth. Required Skills & Experience Extensive experience in an electronics industry and a solid background in electronics and product development. Strong project management and operational leadership experience in a low-volume electronics manufacturing environment. Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget while maintaining high quality and compliance standards. In-depth knowledge of product compliance regulations, including CE standards and ISO 9001. Experience in team leadership, coaching, and performance management. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational skills. BSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field. Strong IT skills, including MS Office, SharePoint, and ERP systems.
