An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to lead and support the continued development of our Emergency Department at Darent Valley Hospital.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department to work as part of our senior nursing team, working alongside the existing Band 7 Senior Sister team to lead, support junior staff and keep a safe running of the department.
The post will require you to work across all areas of the emergency department across a 24/7 day week, including day and night shifts.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse of the Emergency Department (ED), you will be responsible for the continued assessment and delivery of care across all areas of ED including resource management of the areas, capacity and patient pathways. The post holder will also be required to manage a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring mandatory training, appraisals and human resource issues are dealt with.
The post holder's duties will also include providing professional leadership, teaching of junior staff and students, managing and coordinating the ED department ensuring patient flow remains active and safe. They will be responsible for escalation of issues which affect performance and problem solve, and will be an expert resource in clinical matters.
The post holder would also be expected to actively contribute to the directorate and trust wide nursing projects. To be available to patients, carers and their families and visitors as required as well as be able to communicate with outside trusts and community representatives.
