Job overview
Assist in coordination of Patient Flow through bed management, utilising bed management systems to input and communicate data regarding patient flow and site management. Liaising with staff, multidisciplinary teams, GPs, patient transport and other hospitals. Utilise and develop relevant extended skills, carrying out duties with supervision where indicated. The department operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Main duties of the job
Operational management of acute beds across the NCIC. Initial point of contact for all emergency and elective admissions, facilitating discharge of patients home or for continuing care into community hospitals. Bed management coordinates emergency and elective admissions, transfers care into community, takes GP referrals for emergency admissions, and organises repatriation of patients from tertiary hospitals. Support the site coordinator with all data input and output.
